Century College, Baikunth, established in 2007, has been serving the educational needs of rural students with the vision of providing quality higher education at an affordable cost. The college is situated in the village of Baikunth and is managed by the Century Cement Education Society, Baikunth. Since its inception, the institution has focused on empowering rural youth through education, skill development, and value-based learning. The college initially started with two undergraduate programmes—Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.). In 2011, it expanded its academic offerings by introducing Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) and Master of Commerce (M.Com.), reflecting its commitment to meeting the growing educational aspirations of the region.
The primary objective of the college development plan is to transform Century College into a leading rural higher education institution that provides academic excellence, professional competence, and holistic personality development. The institution aims to bridge the gap between rural and urban education by offering modern learning facilities and industry-relevant education.
Academically, the college plans to introduce new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Business Analytics, and Management. The curriculum will be regularly updated to align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the evolving needs of industry. The college also intends to establish research and innovation cells to encourage faculty and students to undertake research projects, publish scholarly papers, and participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences.
Infrastructure development is another major priority. The college plans to modernize classrooms with smart teaching technologies, establish well-equipped computer laboratories, upgrade the library with digital resources, and improve internet connectivity across the campus. Additional facilities such as seminar halls, language laboratories, innovation centres, and recreational spaces will be developed to enhance the overall learning environment.
The institution is committed to strengthening student support services by providing career counselling, placement assistance, competitive examination coaching, entrepreneurship development programmes, and skill enhancement courses. Regular industrial visits, internships, guest lectures by experts, and soft skill training programmes will be organized to improve students' employability. The college also aims to establish strong collaborations with industries, universities, and professional organizations for academic and research partnerships.
Faculty development will receive special attention through continuous professional development programmes, faculty orientation, research grants, and participation in national and international academic events. The college encourages teachers to adopt innovative teaching methodologies, digital learning platforms, and outcome-based education practices.
Community engagement remains one of the core missions of Century College. Through activities, awareness campaigns, digital literacy programmes, environmental conservation initiatives, health camps, and village development activities, the college seeks to contribute to the social and economic development of the surrounding rural communities. Special emphasis will be placed on empowering women, promoting entrepreneurship among rural youth, and encouraging social responsibility.
The college also plans to strengthen its internal quality assurance mechanisms through continuous academic audits, feedback systems, student mentoring, and accreditation processes. Sustainable campus initiatives such as rainwater harvesting, solar energy utilization, waste management, and green campus development will be implemented to promote environmental responsibility.
Over the next five to ten years, Century College aspires to become a recognized centre of excellence in rural higher education. By combining quality education, modern infrastructure, skilled faculty, research opportunities, and community service, the institution aims to produce competent professionals, responsible citizens, and lifelong learners who contribute positively to society and the nation's development. Guided by the vision of the Century Cement Education Society, Baikunth, the college will continue to fulfil its mission of delivering accessible, inclusive, and transformative education to the rural population.
