1. Introduction

Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and Grievance Redressal Committee In pursuance of the UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015, and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, the College has constituted an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).

The ICC is a legally mandated body responsible for addressing complaints related to sexual harassment against women employees and students, ensuring a safe, secure, and gender-sensitive environment on campus.

Objectives of the ICC
  • To maintain a zero-tolerance policy against any form of sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination.
  • To create awareness about gender sensitization through workshops, seminars, and interactive sessions.
  • To provide a transparent, time-bound, and highly confidential mechanism for redressal of grievances.

3. What Constitutes Sexual Harassment?

According to the POSH Act and UGC guidelines, sexual harassment includes any one or more of the following unwelcome acts or behavior (whether directly or by implication):

  • Physical contact and advances.
  • A demand or request for sexual favors.
  • Making sexually colored remarks.
  • Showing pornography or any offensive visual materials.
  • Any other unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature.
  • Creating an intimidating, offensive, or hostile learning/working environment.
4. Complaint Procedure & Redressal Process
How to File a Complaint
  • Who can complain: Any female student, faculty member, or non-teaching staff member of the college.
  • Timeline: The written complaint must be submitted to the ICC within 3 months from the date of the incident (or the last incident in a series of events).
  • Mode of Submission: The aggrieved person can submit a written and signed application directly to the Presiding Officer or drop it in the dedicated ICC
  • Suggestion/Complaint Box on campus: Alternatively, complaints can be emailed to (centurycement@gmail.com)]

The Inquiry Process
  • Confidentiality: The identity of both the complainant and the respondent is kept strictly confidential.
  • Timeline for Inquiry: The ICC will initiate and complete the formal inquiry within a period of 90 days from receiving the complaint.
  • Reporting: The ICC will submit its inquiry report to the Principal/Executive Authority within 10 days of completing the inquiry.
  • Action: The college administration must act upon the recommendations of the ICC within 60 days of receiving the report.
  • Caveat against False/Malicious Complaints: While the committee provides full safety to genuine victims, if an inquiry reveals that a complaint was intentionally false, malicious, or backed by forged documents, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against the complainant as per UGC rules.
